2026 Wil Mills Chapbook Award
Erratics was just named winner of the 2026 Wil Mills Chapbook Award, judged by Joan Kwon Glass, at West Chester University’s Center for Creative Writing and Poetry. From the judge:
"Erratics is pure magic–the sort of manuscript that gives you chills as you read & reminds you why poetry is still essential to our imaginations & our reckonings. I was awed by the way the poet manages both magnitude & focus, cohesion & scope, how they balance tender images with stark language in a way that is both jarring & grounding. These poems offer readers a haunted cartography, connecting the Earth’s ancient histories to our ancient grief. What remains hidden & what will be revealed? How do we make a home in the world & in one another? I imagine the speaker in Erratics as an “old soul.” These poems are both ballad & plainsong, recordkeeping & elegiac. They are mature, memorable & distinctive from the first poem to the last." - Joan Kwon Glass
